Quickstart with Insight Mobile

This page shows you how to install the Insight Mobile and Feature Demo apps on your Android device, connect a scanner, and test basic functionalities.

Before you begin

Sign up for an Insight Webportal account.

Download Insight Mobile to your Android device

  1. Go to Insight Webportal.
  2. At the top, under Resources, select Downloads.

  3. In the Insight Mobile (Android) section, select I accept the End-user license agreement.
    The Download Insight Mobile (Android) button becomes available.

  4. Click Download Insight Mobile (Android).
    The latest version's .apk file downloads to your device.

Install Insight Mobile

  1. Open the folder where you downloaded the .apk file on your Android device.
  2. Tap the .apk file.
    A modal window displays.
  3. Tap Install.
    Insight Mobile installs automatically.

Pair your scanner with Insight Mobile

  1. Open Insight Mobile on your Android device.
    Scan2Pair screen displays the Pairing Barcode automatically.
  2. Scan the Pairing Barcode with your scanner.
    Your scanner connects to the app.

    Note: If Bluetooth is not enabled before opening the app, the Insight Mobile app prompts you to enable it before displaying the Pairing Barcode.

Download the Feature Demo app

  1. Go to Insight Webportal.
  2. At the top, under Resources, click Downloads.

  3. In the Feature Demo Application section, select I accept the End-user license agreement.
    The Download Feature Demo App button becomes available.

  4. Click Download Insight Mobile (Android).
    The latest version's .apk file downloads to your device.

  5. Install the Feature Demo App the same way as Insight Mobile.

Scan

Once you installed Insight Mobile and paired your scanner, you can start scanning. The scanned barcode's content will display in your Feature Demo Application's UI.

You can connect your Insight Mobile Android device to Insight Webportal to feed the analytics functionalities from our cloud offering, integrate the app with your customer infrastructure, or try out the sample apps to get started with building your own Android scanning apps.
